Inspired

This weekend in Ft. Worth there was a little running event that a sweet friend of mine competed in.  This girl is an inspiration to me and encourages me in ways she may not even know.  Kathryn and I went out the spectate the race and I, personally, didn't have any clue as to what to expect.  The weather was forecasted to be fairly crummy, but yet somehow I still managed to come home with pink shins!

We got a slow start to the morning, which was fine because thatpinkgirl was running an ultra (50k) so we had plenty of time to catch her.  With bagels and some caffeine in hand we headed on I-30 West to Funky Town.  We met up with another cool chick, Natalie, and began the day o' fun.  While we were walking from the Huey's to the runners, you could hear cheers of encouragement from family, friends, and residents of the neighborhood.  I didn't realize how important having someone cheer for you was to each of the people that passes us by.  Of course we yelled the loudest for our Amy, but we made sure to encourage each person that passed us at mile 20.  That's right, mile 20!  Most of the crew still had 6.2 miles to go and some even had 11+.

I'm just now getting into the running thing and my first 5k is this Saturday.  I'm amazed at the community runners have.  Yes you are racing each other, but you're all in it together.  Plus I'm sure the endorphins that are released help out too!  I'm inspired by the determination and heart of each person we saw on Sunday.  Granted, I may not ever be at their level of 26.2 miles+, but I can give my all even in my 5k events.

All that to say, if you get a chance, go out and cheer on some runners.  They will greatly appreciate it!

Fridays off

I am so thankful to work for a company that has a 9/80 schedule which allows me to have every other Friday off.  I know I am in a rare situation and especially coming straight out of college to this environment.  I love my job and I love my employer!

My Fridays off are usually full of running errands, but today has been slow and restful.  I typically have a hard time sleeping in, but today I felt as if I was a teenager again...10:07 a.m. is when I woke up, woah!  Had to eat breakfast quickly before I went to get my eyebrows waxed at European Wax Center (check them out if you haven't already).  Ever since then I've been snuggled down on the couch watching t.v. and doing some much needed laundry.

I don't think I ever appreciated the mounds of laundry that my mom did for our family growing up.  And I'm always so amazed that 2 people can produce so many dirty clothes over the course of just 1 week!  So thanks Mom!

I think I'll finish my afternoon with a little weights as cross training to my running class.  Oh, you haven't heard.  My best friend, Kathryn and I are taking a running class through Run On! on Tuesday and Thursday nights.  Neither of us have ever enjoyed running or been good at it, so we thought why not pay someone to motivate us.  So we are training to run a 5k without stopping...woah.  Granted I'm no Pink Girl, but maybe one day!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Public Apology

Last night we had our Bible fellowship class meet as we do each week on Wednesday nights at Prestonwood.  Our class directors, the Josh and Jenny, have been married for about 7 years now and have 3 beautiful children.  We were blessed to hear them speak about Ephesians 5:22-33.  Bryan wasn't able to be in class due to needing to be at practice with his Texas Twister boys, so I soaked in enough for the 2 of us.

As I sat in my seat with my Bible on my lap, I really tried to listen and think as to how I could improve on being a Godly wife.  Jenny gave us the girls side of things and I felt about 2 inches tall after she finished speaking.  And it is not that she was getting onto us or raising her voice at all, it was because I haven't been the kind of wife Bryan deserves.  One item that Jenny said she struggled with was not wanting to control her husband in the small things.  Her example that she used was driving...if anyone has driven in a car where Bryan was driving and I was in the passenger seat, I'm sorry.  I am so bad about just letting the man drive and in essence it comes across as not trusting him.  So in front of all you readers, I want to apologize to my husband...Bryan-  I am sorry for trying to control you even in the little things like which route to take or which lane to be in on the Tollway.  Will you please forgive me?

Jenny took us back to Gensis 3:16 where it says "I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing; with pain you will give birth to children.  Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you".  Now we all know the childbearing part, thank goodness for epidurals, but she focused on the desire part.  The word desire in this instance isn't talking about the sexual desire, but more so a desire to control...dang it Eve, I'm blamming it on you!  So from the get go, we are wanting to control, but God's perfect plan is designed to have the man be the head of the household.

I have so much to learn as to how to be Bryan's happy helper and I'm thankful that he is patient with me as we go down our marriage journey.  God knew the perfect man for me!
