Public Apology

Last night we had our Bible fellowship class meet as we do each week on Wednesday nights at Prestonwood.  Our class directors, the Josh and Jenny, have been married for about 7 years now and have 3 beautiful children.  We were blessed to hear them speak about Ephesians 5:22-33.  Bryan wasn't able to be in class due to needing to be at practice with his Texas Twister boys, so I soaked in enough for the 2 of us.

As I sat in my seat with my Bible on my lap, I really tried to listen and think as to how I could improve on being a Godly wife.  Jenny gave us the girls side of things and I felt about 2 inches tall after she finished speaking.  And it is not that she was getting onto us or raising her voice at all, it was because I haven't been the kind of wife Bryan deserves.  One item that Jenny said she struggled with was not wanting to control her husband in the small things.  Her example that she used was driving...if anyone has driven in a car where Bryan was driving and I was in the passenger seat, I'm sorry.  I am so bad about just letting the man drive and in essence it comes across as not trusting him.  So in front of all you readers, I want to apologize to my husband...Bryan-  I am sorry for trying to control you even in the little things like which route to take or which lane to be in on the Tollway.  Will you please forgive me?

Jenny took us back to Gensis 3:16 where it says "I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing; with pain you will give birth to children.  Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you".  Now we all know the childbearing part, thank goodness for epidurals, but she focused on the desire part.  The word desire in this instance isn't talking about the sexual desire, but more so a desire to control...dang it Eve, I'm blamming it on you!  So from the get go, we are wanting to control, but God's perfect plan is designed to have the man be the head of the household.

I have so much to learn as to how to be Bryan's happy helper and I'm thankful that he is patient with me as we go down our marriage journey.  God knew the perfect man for me!

Hello Win Column

Well well well......here we are, 14 years after the last Texas Rangers playoff win. Don't even act like you've forgotten what it took to get a leg up on the competition in those days either. We locals here in the DFW area have endured some of the worst times when it comes to our national pastime. But here we are......2010, and like a lot of our local heroes have been telling us lately, IT'S TIME!!!
Texas-Rangers-Retro-Logo.aspx.jpg
I can't even begin to tell you what I think of these so called "loyal" Ranger fans I have seen here popping up lately. Funny how a winning record changes people's opinions about whether they like a team or not. But that's neither here nor there, what we're here to talk about is how awesome the atmosphere is around here lately. Anyone remember the last time the Cowboys were laying regular season football games, and people were still talking about the Rangers?? Not me!! I have to admit, I have loved the attention the team has gotten, and how in love the media has become with this "Claw & Antlers" craze that's been going on.
Ever since the new ownership took over, and a Texas legend finally got in the saddle for this team, they have done some amazing things. Thank you Tom Hicks for writing checks that bounced, and for finally realizing how terrible of a business man you really are. The greatest thrill for me this year has been seeing a team that I have worshiped ever since I could pick up a baseball, finally get some national respect, and not be considered a joke amongst the baseball community anymore. I, along with a lot of other locals, have stuck by this team through thick and thin, and these guys are due for a late October run for a change. Let's watch them head into the ALCS soon, and see where it goes from there. Aw heck, let's close this with a little ditty you might have heard at the ballpark this year.

RG III

Finally, Baylor Football in Dallas is upon us!

Tomorrow will be the day that we jump on the DART just a few blocks from our downtown apartment and head over to the Cotton Bowl.  Although this event won't be as big as 2 crazy teams that played last week, it'll still be great.

The man of the hour(s) will be the one and only Robert Griffin III.  With 1351 passing yards thus far this season, I'm hoping to see another stellar performance from the king bear.  It has been a LONG time since Baylor football has had something to be proud of, and by long time I am referring to when Baylor beat A&M in double OT.  I totally bought the shirt, 2 actually.  While that subtle jab was great, I'll leave you with this sweet music

Best thing since the Evolution of Dance

One of my friends at work sent this little video to me and I'm pretty sure I've watched it at least 5 times already!

JT and Fallon

In other news, tonight will mark another game in Decepticons softball history.

Granted the team has changed up a bit, but the mission is still the same...Win our league (D-league mind you) and show up big for the playoffs.  I never played the game growing up, but dating and eventually marrying a baseball player will eventuallly get you into some variation of the game.  I played for my sorority in college and enjoyed spending time with friends from work.  So for the fall season, my Thursdsay nights are spent with that crew above.  Loving that it's my Friday, loving the weather, and loving the mighty DECEPTICONS!

Realization

Today I had somewhat of an epiphany while standing in the hardware aisle of a local Home Depot. How awesome is it that anything and everything a person could possibly want or need for their home restoration or improvement needs, is readily at their fingertips in one store. You might say, "Well Bryan, you're just now figuring this out?" And my answer to you is, no, but thanks for asking!

I went in there today to repair a bed that my wife and I are putting up in our guest bedroom, and were missing the original parts that that bed came with when it was purchased. I looked at a few of the other customers in there, some looking for plumbing supplies, some for painting options, and others for gardening tools. It just all came to me.....this place is awesome!! As someone who is not the handiest of handymen in the world, I look at a store like that as my permanent go to guy. If I run into a problem at my house that stumps me, all you have to do is bring the problem to one of their employees, and problem solved.

As a new husband, I will be the first one to admit that I have often tried to impress my wife with my knowledge of manly type things like home repair, and things like that. More and more as we live together I come to find that she sees right through me to my true colors. She knows that I probably don't know what I'm talking about, but still makes me feel like she trusts my decision on how to handle it. I find this to be true with my visits to a Home Depot type store as well. Those people may not have the first clue as to what I may need, or what type of problem I am having that needs fixing. But they have equipped themselves with the knowledge that is necessary to handle almost any situation. Do I trust their decision? Absolutely! Would I ever question their judgement on it? Never!

The same can be said when we equip ourselves with the Word of God. When we go above and beyond what is "good enough to get by" and really devote ourselves to spreading God's word to those who are lost in this world, then how could we ever be questioned? We will obviously never be perfect, but if we are always striving, always pushing, always willing to learn, then we are fulfilling God's promise to us. I once had a baseball coach tell me, "Never become satisfied." That quote still holds true, not just on the baseball field, but in our Christian walk as well. Never become satisfied with yourselves, because you never know when you will come face to face with that person who questions, or wants feedback about something that you are not prepared for. Goodnight all.

All-aboard!

Well Bryan and I have decided to jump on the bandwagon and put our take on marriage and life in Dallas on the world wide web.  We hope that you can enjoy this life that we have been given by our Lord alongside of us.  Bryan and I will update our blog as often as possible, life permitting :)

For starters, let me bring you up to speed...

Bryan and I got married on November 7, 2009 at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano.  It was a wonderful evening where we were surrounded by family and friends.  We couldn't of asked for anything more beautiful or memorable.

Since the wedding we went to Mexico for our Honeymoon, Boston to fulfill one of Bryan's lifelong dreams (seeing Fenway/RedSox), and to Florida for Chad's wedding.  Definitely lots of traveling, not to mention lots of family time and adjusting to sharing living quarters with another person.

We're so thankful and excited for this opportunity to share our lives with each of you.  Looking forward to the next time!
